B2B Day one On August 2, 2011, Darrell Sales, David Lombardo and Fred Belligan left Santa Clara, CA headed for New York City. Darrell and Dave on bicycles and Fred in the support vehicle. It was a 3805 mile journey to honor the 343 firefighters who died on 9/11. It was our goal to connect the west coast to the east coast for the 10 year anniversary of an event that touched the lives of so many people.

We were able to ride our Specialized bicycles through small and large communities and spend time with firefighters in fire stations and with citizens in their towns or cities. We were hosted by fire stations as we crossed through the heart of America and made our way across on a route that took us along rivers, through mountain ranges and the plains of the mid west. We were joined along the way by other bicyclists and Darrell Dean caught up with us in Scranton, PA.

We are so grateful to everyone we met and to those who opened up their doors and hearts to us. For the times we were able to spend together around the dinner table in the stations and personal homes with great meals and conversations. Honored to be met by Mayors, Chiefs, firefighters, their families, Boy Scouts and church families. To those we spent time with in restaurants, hotels, State and National Parks, thank you!

Through traditions in the fire service, we collected patches as we made our way east stopping at over 100 fire stations. These patches were placed on our banner and presented to Rescue 1 Station, FDNY. This was our way of completing our mission and to let FDNY know that all of America is connected to NY and how much we all care.

We want to thank everyone who helped support this mission through prayers, words of encouragement and monetary support because without it we could not have finished.
Sincerely,

Darrell, Dave, Fred and Darrell Dean
